Brick is Going Up

They have finally started putting some brick up.

We are having stone put around the windows to match our massive stone walls at the basement walk out.

I am loving it.

I can't wait to see the final product.

We are getting ready to put our house up for sale that we are living in now.

I am getting it ready room by room.

I'll be posting some pictures on here pretty soon.
If you are interested in it, let me know.

Chandeliers

I spotted these chandeliers in a restaurant in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The first one is kind of blurry.

I hope you can tell how cool it is.

It has electric candles on it, topped with upside down empty wine bottles.

The blue and the purple crystal chandeliers just took my breath away.

G E O R G O U S

Wouldn't any of these chandys look great in my new house??

I think they would, too.

Upstairs Tub and Shower Install

Big Ran has been working on the bath tub and shower surround for the upstairs bathroom.

Things like this need to be done before we get too many walls of sheet rock up.

He can do it all!

What a lucky woman I am!

Dining Table

This dining table has caught my eye.

The top is made of zinc.

I am in love.

As you can see, I don't want my dining room to be too formal that you can't live in it.

I hope you love it, too!

Do you??

Truckloads

We have been doing a lot of trucking for the new house lately.

Big Ran is getting the load all tied up for the ride home.

In this load is a bunch of plumbing supplies, a bathtub, and surround for the bathtub, for the upstairs bathroom.

Getting closer............

Video Post On The Upstairs

Here's another video of the progress of the new house.

As I walk in the front door, I walk upstairs and give you a glance of the 2nd story of this house.

I hope you like it.

No one was hurt in the filming of this post, even though it sounds like it!

Geo Thermal Heating and Cooling

They have started on the geo thermal heating and cooling.

They dug a huge race track in the back yard.

These pictures are of the pipes they laid in the ground that will have the water pumping through them.

This is what it looks like coming in the basement.

Those pipes come all the way across the basement ceiling and hook up to these massive machines.

Slowly but surely we are getting things done!

Sheet Rock Is Going Up

Yes, sheet rock is going up in the master bedroom.

Big Ran got a new toy to help him out with it.

Almost finished with one ceiling.

He has been working on the wiring, too.

Almost all of the plug ins are live now.

Things are starting to come together.

I hope you enjoy it.

Sorry about the poor camera work.

Siding is Going Up

This week we are getting our heating and cooling started on the new house.

We have decided to do geothermal.

It will cost more in the beginning, but it will pay off when it comes to the heating and air conditioning bills.

Big Ran is still putting siding on the back porch of the house.

It's coming right along.

I'm going to do another video later this week.

Bathrooms

I have been looking at bathrooms on Pinterest, trying to figure out what I am wanting for my new ones.

In the new house we will have one 1/2 bathroom on the main level,  a master bathroom off the master bedroom, a full bathroom upstairs for Madison and guests, and a full bathroom in the basement including a urinal, more on that later.

I have never had a "1/2 bath" before so I am not so sure what I want to do in there, maybe something like this:

 This glamorous bathroom is awesome.

Of course, this sink is simple and something that I think I could live with for a long time.

Hamilton Vanity

As you can see, I am all over the place on this!

                                                                            Yikes!

I am going to try to put some pictures of things together so I can figure out what looks good together.

Any suggestions?

Chandelier

I love this chandelier!

white-chandelier
I don't think that I have a place for this in the new house, though.

It could be just a little too fancy for our house.

So far all of the lighting that I have is vintage or antique, so I am now looking for some more modern pieces.

Any suggestions?

Our Brick Selection

We have got our brick picked out.

It is Glen-Gery brick.

It looks like it has been worn and it's not brand new.

The brick is only going on the ends of the house, like the house plan.
We have decided to add stone around the windows to incorporate the stone that we have used in our landscaping.

They should be here sometime in the middle of November to get started on this.

I can't wait.
I think it's going to look awesome!!

What do you think??
Do you like it?

Pictures to come.

Madison's Room

In our new home to be we have two bedrooms upstairs with a bathroom between them.

Madison had already picked which room that she wanted to be hers, until the closet was finished.

We doubled the size of the closet in this room.

Check it out.

Doors and Door Handles

As I promised, here is a picture of the front door.

I haven't decided what color to stain it yet.
Originally I was going to stain it to match the floor of our Trex (wood looking) floors on the porch.
But we decided against the Trex flooring and went with cement floors.
So..............I'm not sure what to do with the color, maybe black to match the roof?

I wanted to show you the transom window above the door.

It's my favorite part.

We really like the darker bronze finish that some of the door knobs have right now, but we had to do the silver to match the silver lead in the cut glass design in the door.

When the sun shines through the front door in the late afternoon it makes beautiful rainbows all over the floor.

Here is a shot of the basement walk out.

We went with the silver to match the lead in the doors also.

We have decided the single lever door handle is so much easier to use than the regular door knob, so we are going to use these as much as possible.

Right now Big Ran is still working on siding the eaves, he will be done with that this week.

Moving right along.

Here's What's Happening At Our House

The building crew is done with the structure of the house.

All of the windows and most of the doors are in.
We still have a couple that are special ordered that aren't in yet.

Do you like the grids in the windows and some of the doors?
They are between the glass, the only way to go as far as cleaning them!

We are buttoning up for the winter now.

Big Ran is working on siding the eaves.

He's doing a great job.

Yes, it is nice to have a husband that can do that!

What are you guys doing around your place?

Yes, We Are Still Building a House

In case you are wondering, we are still building a house.

We have a gorgeous black roof on.

It's hard for me to get a good straight on shot of the house because right beside me is a huge pile of dirt with weeds growing out of it.

It is finally starting to look the house plan,
don't you think?
  </>

Since my last post we have added a front porch and part of the windows and doors, too.
It has really changed the look of the house.

I am going to take some more pictures of the front door and show them to you very soon.
In the mean time, this is a close up of it.

Here is a shot of the cleaning crew.
Obviously Madison and Big Ran are moving really fast.
But Shafer stopped long enough to get his focused picture taken!

Trusses in Place

We have most of our trusses in place, now we need to get a roof on this place!

Here's what our house looks like now.
Do you see those flat places on the very top of the trusses?
Those still need the peeks put on, but the builders are doing that as they get to the top so they have something to climb on.

Just in case you haven't noticed, this house has a lot of different roof lines.

I am going to need a lot of Christmas lights!

This is part of our back porch.

Hopefully there will be some shingles up there next week.
