Madison's Bedroom

I am doing a series of done rooms as they are done.
First I posted a blog on the dining room.
Second was the exit room.
Here is the third room in the series.

Madison's bedroom.
This is the view as you are coming down the hallway upstairs.

I was a little leery of the purple at first, but I love how it turned out.

The floors up stairs are all done in this wood.

The closet in this room is large.
Here is one side.

And here is the other.
Yes, she already has one box of clothes in her closet!

Her beautiful, but not fussy chandelier.

We painted the inside of her door in chalkboard paint.
FUN!!

The Master Bedroom

Here are some pictures of the master bedroom.

I don't have a lot of decorations on the walls yet.
It's hard to put holes in the walls when you have done all of the painting, sanding, taping, etc. to them.
The ceiling is white.
The walls are a medium gray.
The trim in this room is a darker gray.
We have the bamboo flooring in here.
I do have a canvas print of a pier headed to the beach between the accordion lamps above our bed.

This chandelier has been through a lot already, but she makes the room.

Here is a closer picture of the headboard.
It is a gray linen fabric with silver tacks.
Right above the headboard is a double switch.
One is for the reading lamps above the bed and the other is for the chandelier in the middle of the room.
This was brilliant!!!!
No more clapping your hands trying to get the "Clapper" to turn your lights off!!!

This is a picture of my best friend.
I wouldn't sleep a wink if not for this little guy.

Over in a corner I have a lounge chair with a Shafer pillow, a reading lamp on a mirrored end table, and a sheepskin rug, that Champ loves.

This is a close up shot of the mercury curtain rods and the white ruffled curtains that I finally decided on.
I only took back three sets of curtains in order to find the right ones!!!

The television hanging on the wall above the dresser.

The other piece of artwork that I have hung in here is a picture of Large and me when we took a trip to Chicago before we were married.
All of the writing on it is from the people who attended our wedding reception wishing us well.
Something I love!!!
If you look closely at it you can see where my dad wrote,
 "Love you
Mom and Dad"
It brings tears to my eyes every time I see it.
A treasure for me.

The rug in here is an indoor/outdoor rug.
It looks like a worn Persian rug, so cool.
I will keep you updated on the decorating in this room, as I tend to change things around a bit.
I like the white bedding for the summer, but fall is just around the corner!!!

What do you think?

The Exit Room

Here is the second post in a series of finished rooms.

In case you missed the first one it was on the dining room.

I'm going to start posting the rooms that we have finished as we finish them.

They are not cleaned or decorated, but they will all have flooring, lighting, and all of the construction done on them.

This is the "EXIT" room.

This room is to the left when you walk in the house from the garage.

This view is from the back porch looking in through the hallway and ending at the half bathroom door.
The walls are painted green.
The trim is all white.
The door to the right is oak, it leads to the attic above the garage.

The picture below is from the hallway out to the back porch.
We are planning on adding a pool out there where all that nice dirt is as soon as we can.
So, when that is done, you will be able to get from the pool to the half bathroom easily.

This porcelain tile is what we have in here, the hallway, and the entry way.
You can't tell by the pictures here, but this flooring has brown, tan, and grey in it.

This is why I refer to this small hallway as "The Exit Room".
I found this light on Ebay and I couldn't resist!
Needless to say, it was the starting point for this room.

Next up in the series is the upstairs hallway.

Work On The House

Thought I would update you a little on the work that Large is doing on the new house.

This is a picture of the 1/2 bath.

Right now he is working on taking the door out and putting in one that swings the other direction.

Love, love, love the black and white tile.

The antique, restored light is hung, now I'm looking for a couple of shades for it.

Large has hung the grass cloth wallpaper in the hallway.

Now he is working on the board and batten.

The Master Bedroom is finished!!!

The Family room has been painted in a dark teal and trimmed out in white.

The crown molding is all that is left to do in here.

The entryway is being painted white.

Large's office is coming along.
Yes, that is a green and orange wall.

The dining room is ready for the grass cloth wallpaper to go up.

Slowly but surely it is all getting done.

Large has set a move in date of April 1st.

Yay!!!

What do you think so far????

I would love to hear your opinion.

1/2 Bathroom Floor Is Down

I realize it has been quite awhile since I have posted anything on the new house.

We are working on the 1/2 bath in the main part of the house right now.

Big Ran and I decided to go with black and white for the color scheme.

The floor is made up of 2 inch black hexagon tiles with white grout.

Since my breast cancer diagnosis, we have slowed down a lot on the house project, we have been spending many hours at doctors appointments.

I have also spent many hours recovering from the surgery and chemotherapy.

We are very determined people though!

What do you think about the tile?

I AM LOVING IT!!!!

Master Bedroom Flooring

We have been working on the flooring in the Master Bedroom.

Well, actually I haven't been helping too much.
I have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Last Friday I had a mastectomy on my right breast.
We go to the doctor tomorrow and find out what happens next.

Sooooooooooooooo  Big Ran got a couple of smaller helpers to help him for a while.

This is a picture of our two little grandsons, Michael and Hudson.

He has much better help now.

We have got all of the sheet rock up.

It is taped and sanded.

I have been cleaning and now we are painting.

We have started in Madison's room and we are going to work our way down the hallway and eventually the stairway and the downstairs.

Here are some pictures of where we are in her room so far.

Now we have two helpers.

Today I am going to finish the painting in this room and order the flooring.

More pictures to come!

Lighting Redo

I bought this old light on eBay about a year ago for $12.00 including shipping.

Not much to look at.

Big Ran and I have been working on polishing this baby up on and off for about six months.

Here it is all torn apart after it was scrubbed and polished up.

This light was patented in May of 1910.

I can't believe we found a date on it.

This was a labor of love.

It's not perfect, but it is perfect for our house.

I can't wait to get this put up in the new house.

I'm thinking maybe the half bath room.

It is called a Capiz  Shell Artichoke Pendant.
It's vintage from 1910-1950.
Pretty cool, huh?

I also got two of these small ones.

They are called capiz shell pendants.

It is vintage from the 1960s.

What do you think???

I am in love............

Bible Verses on The Shell of the New House

I read a lot of other peoples blogs and I found this on one and I had to do it.

I wrote some Bible verses on the sheet rock and studs in the new house.

Oh yes, without the Lord this house would have never been started!

This is my favorite verse since I watched the movie Courageous.

Maybe someday when we are long gone the new owners of this home will want to change the house around, take out a wall or two and find some of these verses.

Wouldn't that be cool?!

Insulstion

The  house is on the first round of two of the foam insulation.

I have seen this done on television before, as we watch HGTV a lot, but this is very cool to watch in person.
I highly recommend it.

It feels warmer in there already!!
Now Big Ran can finish putting up the rest of the sheet rock.

Upstairs Tub and Shower Install

Big Ran has been working on the bath tub and shower surround for the upstairs bathroom.

Things like this need to be done before we get too many walls of sheet rock up.

He can do it all!

What a lucky woman I am!

Bricks and Stone

The bricks and stone have arrived.

I am very excited to see them actually put into place.

The plan is to put the stone around the windows.

I think it is going to look great!

This is a picture of the stone.

Bring it on!
